Back again!

When I don’t blog it means I’m not dieting. As a result, and thanks to lots of great food while visiting relatives for the Easter break, my weight had returned to exactly where it was on New Year’s Eve. Since returning home and just being a bit sensible I lost 1 kg, and [...]

Report on last 4 days–mainly protein

I haven’t blogged for a few days because I haven’t been so well, I had fever and sore throat. The good side is that I had very little appetite so not only did I not regain any of the weight I had lost during the Cabbage Soup Diet, but I even lost some more: [...]

Cabbage Soup Diet: Report

I’ve completed the week on the Cabbage Soup Diet. I didn’t follow it 100%, especially yesterday evening. We were out all day, I had taken the rice with me and had that at lunch with a salad, but in the evening we visited friends and stayed rather longer than planned so on the [...]

Epiphany

Last Saturday we went to a wedding. During the celebration dinner Husband either mixed his drinks, or had too much to drink, or his system simply wasn’t used to drinking after abstaining for about two months on a strict diet–whatever the reason, his body rejected the alcohol in no uncertain terms. This was [...]

4th Week Report & Dinner

Sorry this is late. On Monday my weight was 73.7kg, i.e. a gain of 0.3kg since last Monday. However, I’m confident this is just a temporary fluctuation, probably caused by water retention from popcorn at the cinema last Saturday, and I’m continuing the plan. Today I was already less but I committed [...]

3rd Week Report & Lunch & Clean Monday

First of all, apologies to my readers for not posting anything last week because Son and I came down with the flu and I really haven’t been up to much more than chicken soup. The “benefit” of this is that I lost an entire 1.0kg last week, without even following the plan since Wednesday. [...]

Which diet is most effective? And is dieting the answer?

I’ve just come across some interesting research, comparing over 800 overweight or obese volunteers on one of four different diets (low-fat, high-fat, high-protein, average-protein) for two years (much larger and longer study than most).

What was particularly interesting was the finding that, regardless of plan,
The average weight loss was 9 pounds (4kg)
Not very much, [...]

2nd Week Report & Snacks

Despite three meals out during the past week and some alcohol (not allowed on the plan until the 3rd week) I managed to lose 0.7kg last week. I can’t believe it myself! In fact yesterday we were out all day here http://www.orosziria.gr/index.html with a large group, so all my meals were out of [...]

Eating Out

Last night was Tsiknopempti in Greece–rough translation ‘Thursday which smells of smoking meat fat’ because it’s a day when people traditionally eat meat (yes, there was a time when it was eaten only on special occasions) in anticipation of the deprivation of Lent. So we went out to eat grilled meat. Husband ordered [...]

1st Week Report & Breakfast

Every Monday I’m going to report my weight loss for the preceding week, and discuss one aspect of the diet. Today, Breakfast. I’m sure you’ve heard nutritionists stress that this is the most important meal of the day, it revs up the metabolism and feeds the brain (children who go to school without [...]
